ALAN ADAMSON

Growing up, both my mother and my father were artists, and from an early age I was encouraged to paint and draw freely. My mother had an industrial roll of brown paper on a spindle, and she would tear off long sheets of paper and set out the paintpucks. My dad would tell us not to correct what we thought were mistakes, to leave them alone and just keep going. The result being that myself, my two sisters, and one of my brothershave all been caught up in painting.

My art pursuits through the years have been sporadic, but of late I am getting after it more consistently. I am learning as I go and enjoy classes at the WAG, Forum Art, and Martha Street Studio.

Currently I am a member of the Wpg. Sketch Club and the Manitoba Society of Artists.

I am working with acrylics, water soluble oils, charcoal, pastels, pencil, etc.

Subject matter and inspiration come in a large part from time spent at our cottage on Lake Winnipeg.

My work consists of landscapes, portraiture, and figure drawing.

There are so many good artists to look up to. I appreciate the individualism of art and the challenge of self expression.
